Finally Fighting by JamieKinosian Finally Fighting by JamieKinosian
I finally finished my part of my art trade with Agnes Stelmach. She wanted Link from Ocarina of Time but throwing in Ganondorf made it more enjoyable for me.

I don't really like masking things with fluid, so imagine the fun with this one.

17”x11” Watercolor Painting.
Penciled lines + Sharpie Paint Poster Marker

The art looks cool but link's expression is a little weird other than that it worked well :D

I can't remember the system, but I know it was a hand held and I think came out recently. The Zelda game brought back memories of the first couple Zelda games--I am that old, played Legend of Zelda and BEAT it lol, but it was hard--sorta like Super Mario Bros. on Wii reminded me a lot of the original Mario. Oh...and that Zelda music...THAT brought back memories.

Amazing. Absolutely amazing. The fine detail on this for a watercolour is blowing my mind, and I'm very much enjoying how they both have N64 OoT-like noses. :]

Brilliantly done watercolor! I have to really appreciate these wonderful traditional works! I know it must be challenging to get everything to work in a traditional picture.

oh wow thank you so much! Traditional can be tricky but I find it the most soothing. While tools and tricks are handy, trying to color digitally drives me bonkers. :heart: Your avatar is fantastic by the way.

I used to do masking fluid all wrong, and that's why I stopped using it. I used it as it was, and it not only ruined my brush but it was difficult to apply because it turned so rubbery so soo, too thick, and details got all messy. It becomes considerably easier, if you tip your brush in soap water before dipping it in masking fluid, just in case you'd like to give it a chance in the future.

Beautiful and juicy colors, it's awesome how you got all the details so neat :3 I just love everything about Links shield and shadows in his clothing especially.

OH really now? being able to water it down a little makes a lot more sense, and putting a layer of soapy water between the brush and the fluid. It always jacks up brushes so I try not to use anything nice, and then using cruddy brushes makes it a pain (not that I'd use nice brushes with an easier method). I'll have to give that a shot.

There was a very good side of me not using masking fluid on this one though. It actually got me to use the fine tipped brush I had never used. It made things dramatically easier, and I'll be using that guy a lot in the future now haha. :D;;

Aaa thanks so much Eva! It means a lot!

YEP I don't remember where I heard this tip first but I was pretty mindblown, had ruined few brushes already and mostly given up on masking fluid for good. Now it's actually useful.

Yeah and it depends on what kind of result you want, it's not necessary for all works. Like in this work, I don't get the feeling like you'd needed masking fluid or that it would've dramatically changed anything. But for example, *koyamori does really beautiful stuff with masking fluid, it gives more freedom with using water and letting the color spread. Or ~tir-ri, who uses it to bring out sharp details on patterns and designs.

I should...do some watercolors too....been so long since I last painted anything with watercolors.
